We Need Your Support

Imagine an information system with all you ever wanted to know about fishes and aquatic organisms. The FishBase Information and Research Group, Inc. (FIN) is a not-for-profit NGO dedicated to support the team of 15 experts that produce the monthly updated versions of FishBase. Services

FishBase and SeaLifeBase Services

The FishBase and SeaLifeBase teams are proud to offer as public goods a wide variety of interfaces to the underlying databases. We regularly add new tools, lists and queries that we deem useful or those that have been requested by our users, and design on request simple queries to create original datasets for research purposes.

For requests like design complex queries to create extended datasets, prioritize data encoding and checking on given taxonomic group or thematic, or develop new tools drawing on data that require substantial work beyond the regular tasks of the teams, we can assist you for your specific purposes, billed as services. The minimal amount for such services would only cover staff time for the additional work.

Donate to FIN

Donations help us first and foremost to pay the salaries of the very efficient and committed team of around 20 persons in the Philippines. Most of them work in the team for more than 10 years. Training new young people in our continuing effort under the supervision of senior members will allow delivering more accurate and validated information keeping at the same time the programming and encoding capacity. With your support, we will be able to persevere delivering high quality scientific information to support sustainable development initiatives which promotes a balance between the exploitation of fish stocks (for food and ornamental purposes), and conservation of fish populations without the worry of time and budget constraints.

Please help us by donating today. All money received from donations will be used for data encoding, programming and research activities.
